Social Media Challenge Rant Part Two

Long ago, I made a post talking about the different social media challenges.

And today, I’m going to be talking about them again, but from a slightly different angle.

To start off, I’m going to blindly assume that people participate in these challenges to get a taste of online fame.

Because after all, if these challenges are trending on social media platforms and they post videos of themselves doing the challenges, then they should be getting more views than if they were to put out other kinds of content, right?

But here’s where the irony comes in.

Everyone is doing the exact same challenge. So in a way, you’re not doing anything special that makes you unique. Maybe your friends will recognize and praise you, but that’ll last no longer than one day.

If anything, you’re no different than all the other people doing the same challenge.

And I’ve never seen anyone on social media become famous because of a challenge. But if you consider them being featured on the news with the reporters basically saying they were out of their minds as being famous, then so be it.

But no.

People get famous from building an audience, and their brand, by being themselves along with other strategies.

Likewise, businesses don’t build a strong brand through email by following hot trends, copying what everyone else does, or even stealing other people’s email copy word-for-word.

They write personality-driven, relationship building emails, which you can learn how to do with How to Become an Email Titan.
